ROUND TABLE ON CHILD POVERTY

CROP is organising a Round Table on Poverty and Inequality in collaboration with Childwatch at a conference on Children´s Rights at a Crossroads in Addis Ababa.

Leif Jensen from The Pennsylvania State University, USA is mooderating the Round Table, and the scheduled participants are: Michael Bourdillon, University of Zimbabwe Jo Boyden, Young Lives Project, University of Oxford, UK Tassew Woldehanna, Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia Irene Rizzini, The Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Kebede Kassa, AU Commission, Ethiopia Francis Dodoo, The Pennsylvania State University, USA

The Round Table will focus on child poverty and inequality with an eye toward providing an understanding of the current research and policy context,-identifying and advancing needed rights-oriented research in this area. Presentations and discussions will be structured around the following themes;1) the centrality of poverty to children's rights, 2) child poverty amidst extreme inequality and other contexts, and 3) breaking the cycle of child poverty.
