World Social Work Day 2017

World Social Work Day 2017

EVENT: What can social work contribute and which competencies are needed to implement the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)?

21 March 2017 | UN, Geneva

The World Social Work Day is organised by the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW), the International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW), the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD) and the School of Social Work Geneva (HETS-Genève).

Sustainability represents one of the most revolutionary paradigm shifts of the 20th century, with consequences for social work, as it is closely related to relationships between human communities, their future and the environment.

World Social Work Day 2017 will explore the following questions: What can social work contribute and which competencies are needed to implement the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)?

The event is an opportunity to exchange knowledge and strengthen synergies between the social work community, UN organisations and international NGOs. It is aimed at international civil servants, social work professionals, students and all others with an interest in the topic.
