This roundtable at the World Social Science Forum (WSSF) was organized by
CROP in collaboration with CLACSO and CODESRIA. The panellists included
Jimi O. Adesina, Researcher and Professor at Rhodes University, South Africa;
Bob Deacon, Director of the Programme on Globalism and Social Policy
(GASPP), University of Sheffield, UK; Juliana Martinez Franzoni, Researcher,
The Social Research Institute, and Professor, University of Costa Rica; Sam
Moyo, Executive Director of the African Institute of Agrarian Studies and President
of CODESRIA; Carlos Barba Solano, Coordinator of the Working Group
GT at CLACSO on “Poverty and Social Politics" and Professor at the University
of Guadalajara, Mexico.

The papers presented by Deacon and Martinez Franzoni have been published in a
special issue of the peer-reviewed journal Global Social Policy, guest edited
by Asuncion St.Clair and Håvard Haarstad.
