Working group on Child Poverty and Inequalities in Latin America

Working group on Child Poverty and Inequalities in Latin America

Collaboration with Equity for Children and Latin American universities.

CROP is joining a new working group initiative on Child Poverty and Inequalities in Latin America, in collaboration with several institutions from Latin America and USA.

During its first steps, the Working Group aims to:

  • Analyze the evidence of the existing relationship between child development, inequality, and poverty.
  • Analyze child policies focused on early child development implemented in Latin America, by looking at the theoretical framework they are based on, and the decisions carried out in those countries addressing situations of early poverty and inequality.
  • Assess the ways in which the Latin American countries understand and implement the Children’s rights approach in public policies.

The coordination board of the Working Group is composed by:

Alberto MINUJIN, Director of Equity for Children, New School University, USA.

Helia MOLINA, Catholic University of Chile.

Alberto CIMADAMORE, Director of CROP, Norway.

Ernesto DURAN, Observatory on Childhood, National University of Colombia.

Raúl MERCER, Latin American School of Social Sciences (FLACSO), Argentina.

Valeria LLOBET, University of San Martin - Conicet, Argentina.

Alejandro ACOSTA, Director of International Centre of Education and Human Development (CINDE), Colombia
