National Committee

The CROP Scientific Committee has also decided to form national committees of CROP. Since the Secretariat is situated at the University of Bergen, and receives funding from Norad, NFR/MFA, the first national committee of CROP will be created in Norway.

The main role of the national committee is to advise and support CROP’s Scientific Director and the CROP Secretariat in the effective implementation and achievement of the programme’s goals, with a particular focus on strengthening, promoting and connecting to CROP existing and emerging national networks and research.

The Norwegian national committee is asked to assist in:

  • Restructuring and strengthening CROP’s Norwegian network on poverty research
  • Coordinating input and initiatives from scientific communities in Norway to guide CROP’s activities nationally and internationally
  • Advising on applications to the Norwegian Research Council, Norad, Ministry of Foreign Affairs etc.
  • Guiding the Programme’s activities in Norway and helping the integration of Norwegian networks into CROP’s overall international network
