Dag Rune Olsen

Rector of the University of Bergen for the period 2013 - 2017.

Dag Rune Olsen was Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences from 2010 until his appointment as Rector of the University of Bergen in 2013; during his campaign he emphasized the importance of developing the university further as an international research university.

He was previously Director of Research at the Norwegian Radium Hospital in Oslo and is a Professor of Medical Physics, specializing in cancer treatment and radiation therapy.

Rector Olsen has served in international positions, organized several international meetings and conferences and has been editorial board member in several international journals. He received the Klaas Breur Award for his research (2008) and is elected to Academia Europaea (2011) and the Norwegian Academy of Technological Sciences (2013).

Olsen earned his PhD in medical physics from the University of Oslo in 1999. He has published over 120 scientific papers in international peer reviewed journals as well as book chapters and other scientific works.
